The NIH has awarded a $2.3 million grant to Modality.AI and the MGH Institute of Health Professions to determine if data collected from an app is as effective, or more effective, than the observations of clinical experts who diagnose and treat ALS.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) could have a profound impact on improving ALS diagnosis, decreasing costs for patients and healthcare providers while eliminating the need for patients to travel to clinics for assessment.
